Wildlife Issues

A few months back, I reported to the HOA about bobcat sightings. Today, I shot and burned a raccoon in the beginning stages of going rabid.

Rabies initial stages have animals doing irregular behavior. As the disease progresses and the animals get dehydrated, they will seek out water.

The one shot today was observed for several hours around my pond before calling the Johnson County Game Warden, who in turn instructed me to contact the Sheriff’s Office. Johnson County does not have a animal control division. Unless an animal attacks or someone comes into contact with the animal, the County will instruct you to burn the carcass as I did today.

Don’t know if it is an isolated issue or one of many, so keep out a watchful eye and listen to your dogs.
